Discussing topology and cosmology to discover the shape of the universe, and the idea that going in one direction would eventually bring about a repetition. In this environment you would eventually come from the opposite direction given the same point of reference. What shape is the universe, any ideas?

Super Jake

I myself believe that the universe has no definite shape and that since it is relatively imposable for use to see what is going on today, largely due to the fact that everything we see in the universe that is far away seems to be year’s behind us in time. So then how is it possible to measure the expansion of the universe if we don't take into account the time that the source originated? If a star exploded that was several million light years away and we used that to measure the expansion of the universe, wouldn't you have to make sure that you were measuring the rate of expansion in our time, not the sources time, and is that even possible. It could be that the expansion we see today has actually already occurred since we are taking measurement from something that occurred how ever many years ago. I believe that it is possible for spatial disturbances in space time, like the one mentioned above, to warp any measurement taken from a given source to conform to the originating time not the real time of when the measurement was taken. I believe that the universe is dynamic in the fact that there is a balance that is maintained. You have black holes that suck in matter, light, everything that exists. Then there are other phenomena that spew forth matter, light, and everything that exists. So there isn’t any depletion of matter, light, energy etc. only transactions from one form to another. I know my theory may be crude and unrefined but it does offer a different direction of thinking. I like to hear others thoughts and ideas, who knows may be someone out there has a solution.
